  • Buenos Aires metro system is the oldest in Latin America, dating 1913. The Buenos Aires metro system is the 13th oldest metro system in the world.
  • It has the widest street in the world: Avenida 9 de Julio.
  • It was the First Latin America city that recognized LGBT rights.
  • The most visited attraction in Buenos Aires is actually a graveyard. Founded in 1822, Recoleta Cemetery houses some of the country’s most beloved icons, including presidents, Nobel prize winners ,  Eva Peron, among others. Recoleta is so awe-inspiring that the BBC and CNN declared it among the most beautiful cemeteries in the world. Definitely a must-see.
  • Psychologists are everywhere: There is certainly no taboo about going to see a shrink in this modern metropolis. This is not believed to be a result of a higher rate of mental illness (though some might beg to differ), rather that the practice is more normalized here than in other societies.
